Heartlight Residential Center for Struggling Teens

Located in the piney woods of East Texas, Heartlight provides a place of peace and haven of hope for teens that are struggling through their adolescent years. The Heartlight program has 65 residents that live in a pristine setting on 150 acres outside of Longview, Texas. Since it’s beginning, Heartlight has been a “home away from home” for over 3,000 teens, and a place to help parents renew and restore their relationship with their teen. Heartlight’s staff, five licensed professional counselors, program and activities, and facility are second to none and have all made Heartlight a premiere program for helping parents and teens in a broken world.

Opened in 1988, Heartlight continues to provide a program and setting that is changing the destiny of families, and prides itself on their commitment to excellence and success in saving the lives of teens while offering the opportunity for parents to change the destiny of their families.

The New Heartlight South Building construction

A major construction project on the Heartlight Campus in Longview, Texas has been the building of a new girl’s home that will soon be called “Sam’s Cabin” in honor of Heartlight’s dear friend, Sam Satterwhite, who has helped us build the beautiful campus with log cabins. All will be moved in by May of 2022.

The new “Sam’s Cabin” will house 10 girls and 4 staff and is a million dollar project that will become a place of hope for those kids passing through its doors and a constant reminder of a dear man that helped Heartlight become “the most beautiful campus in East Texas”.

This capital project was funded by a group of donors who have participated with Heartlight for years and  helped us build many other buildings on the campus.

family crisis coaching

By far, one of the most effective resources offered to parents is our Family Crisis Coaching where parents meet with one of our Heartlight coaches (licensed professional counselors that are or have been on our staff and other experienced staff members). Parents have the opportunity to soak up wisdom and practical tips to move their family out of the crisis they’re experiencing, and hopefully head in the right direction of restoration and renewal.

This past year, over 200 parents have taken advantage of this resource.
